Rhodes remarked, “Everyone who knows has asked me how he is feeling, if he is genuinely excited.” He keeps repeating to everyone that it’s just a terribly heavy feeling. When he first started wrestling, he only competed in the WWE system, and he dreamed of reaching the top. Then, as Garth Brooks sings, dreams are like rivers, and they veered and altered. Then they were able to do what we were able to do with AEW, which he is extremely pleased of, but being able to revisit the thing he set out to do in the first place when he didn’t believe he would get the chance is just heavy.

He opted to keep quiet about his departure from AEW, and he intends to follow his word, according to Rhodes.

There isn’t going to be any malicious story told. Moreover, there were a plethora of theories, none of which were correct he added. He’s implying that there were issues with money and creative control. They were printed as fact, and it’s taken me two months to realise that while the truth is that it was only time. They couldn’t get over it because it was a personal issue. Matt [Jackson], Nick [Jackson], and Kenny [Omega] are all people he admires. Tony Khan is his favourite. His name would go down in history as someone who helped fund and support the entire alternative. He brought revolution that became AEW, but it was time for him to move on.  He gets an opportunity at his dream, he gets another chance at it. And he really can’t leave any stone unturned with that.
