A statement released by the family informed that after a 25-day struggle, Dr. Jagdish Gandhi breathed his last on the morning of January 22 at the age of 87.

Last Rites
The Gandhi family has announced that those wishing to pay their final respects can do so at the auditorium hall of CMS Gomtinagar Extension campus on January 23, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, after which his last rites will be performed.
In other news, a laser show and eco-friendly fireworks are scheduled for the Pran Pratistha ceremony at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Artists will be contributing to the event with their performances.
About Dr. Jagdish Gandhi
Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, recognized as a brilliant educationist, made significant contributions to the field of education. Born on November 10, 1936, in Barsauli village of Aligarh, he was deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi and Raja Mahendra Pratap from a young age.
Changing his name from ‘Jagdish Prasad Agarwal’ to ‘Jagdish Gandhi’ during his school years, he later pursued B.Com at Lucknow University. Despite facing financial challenges, he managed his daily expenses by teaching tuition and selling newspapers.
In 1958, during his second year of M.Com, he was elected as the ‘President’ of Lucknow University Students Union, with the then Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru attending the swearing-in ceremony as the chief guest upon Dr. Gandhi’s invitation.
Alongside his wife Satvik Gandhi, Dr. Jagdish Gandhi laid the foundation of City Montessori School in 1959 with just five students, which has now grown into a globally recognized institution.
Since 1999, CMS holds the Guinness World Record for the largest school globally. In 2002, UNESCO honored Dr. Jagdish Gandhi with the ‘International Peace Education Award,’ and in 2014, he received the Yash Bharti Award from the Uttar Pradesh government.
Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, a father of four, with three daughters and one son, witnessed all his children receive their initial education at CMS and pursue further studies in England. His legacy lives on through his children, each making notable contributions in various fields around the world.
His son Mr. Vinay Gandhi is a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) from London University and is the founder of a school in Lucknow, India.
CMS Founders Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr Bharti Gandhi declared their personal assets valuing at Rs. 22,48,693/- lakhs only back in 2021.
