Chirag Shetty career

Chirag and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy played a crucial role in earning India a historic gold medal at the mixed team event in the Commonwealth Games of 2018.  In 2019, Chirag and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy again were first Indian doubles pairs who won the BWF Superseries title.

In 2021, Chirag Shetty and his partner Satwiksairaj Rankireddy lost to the Indonesian duo of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan at the 2020 Yonex Thailand Open. Further, in July, Chirag and Rankireddy competed in the Summer Olympics of 2020, but they got eliminated in the group stage, following a loss to Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

In 2022, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy began their year by winning the India Open. The duo was part of India’s Thomas Cup team. In the final, they lost their first game to the Indonesian duo Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Mohammad Ahsan, but Chirag and Satwiksairaj displayed immense perseverance and tenacity of winning the second round and close out the third game by 21–19, giving India a 2–0 lead over Indonesia.

At the finals of the BWF World Championships, Chirag Shetty and Rankireddy won a bronze medal, and India’s first-ever men’s doubles medal at the tournament. They both beat defending champions Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi in the quarterfinals but later lost in the semi-finals to the champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.

Chirag and Rankireddy won the French Open and they both made their first Super 750 title of their career by beating Lu Ching-Yao and Yang Po-Han.
