Chirag Paswan: “Bihar is My Priority, Will Contest Assembly Elections in 2030”

New Delhi: Speaking at the Times Now Summit 2025, Union Minister Chirag Paswan made it clear that his primary political goal is to serve Bihar

While he currently holds a position in the central government, Paswan emphasized that his ultimate ambition lies in playing an active role in his home state.

“The decision to become Chief Minister depends on the future, but one thing is certain—I will contest the Bihar Assembly elections in 2030,” he said confidently. Paswan reaffirmed his commitment to his “Bihar First, Bihari First” ideology, stating that he is dedicated to the development and progress of his state.

Doesn’t Want to Stay in Central Politics for Too Long:

Paswan also acknowledged the difference between his own political aspirations and those of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan, who was deeply involved in central politics. “My father preferred being in central politics, but my priority is Bihar. I don’t want to stay in Delhi for too long—my state is calling me,” he asserted.

On ‘Political Weather Science’ and Prashant Kishor

When asked about his father’s reputation as a ‘political weather scientist’, Paswan smiled and said: “His blood runs in my veins, and his values are ingrained in me. A fish doesn’t need to be taught how to swim—I, too, understand the science of politics instinctively.”

On Prashant Kishor’s political ambitions, Paswan responded diplomatically: “Let him take off first—then we’ll see whether his flight lands safely or encounters turbulence.”

However, he acknowledged Kishor as a good friend and stated that the clarity of Kishor’s political strategy would become evident in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Major Responsibilities in the Food Processing Ministry Talking about his role as a Union Minister, Paswan highlighted the significance of his portfolio for Bihar’s development.

“I have always prioritized Bihar’s agricultural wealth—Muzaffarpur’s litchis, Bhagalpur’s mangoes, Hajipur’s bananas—these all need proper processing units,” he explained.

“I Will Return to Bihar and Make My Mark”

When asked about his future in politics, Paswan made his intentions clear: “I don’t believe in cutting someone else’s path—I believe in making my own path bigger.”

He reiterated his determination to play a key role in Bihar’s political landscape and concluded with a powerful statement: “The flame of Chirag (lamp) will not be extinguished—it will light up many homes. Bihar is my dream, and I will make it a reality.”
