The 26.2-mile Chicago Marathon is a running race that takes place in Chicago, Illinois, every October. In terms of overall finishers, the Chicago Marathon comes in at number four. This year, the event is anticipated to attract about 45,000 runners.

Additionally, they draw millions of onlookers who are either captivated by the idea of witnessing athletes intentionally subject themselves to excruciating pain or who are trying to follow friends and relatives.
The Chicago Marathon course will once again pass through 29 neighbourhoods, including Sheridan Road in the north, Damen Avenue on the west side, 35th Street in the south via Chinatown, and Michigan Avenue’s illustrious “Mount Roosevelt” in the north before coming to an end on Columbus Drive, as per wgntv.com. With a total of $460,000 in prize money for the open division ($230,000 for men and $230,000 for women), the breakdown is:
- 5th Place: $25,000
- 4th Place: $30,000
- 3rd Place: $45,000
- 2nd Place: $55,000
- 1st Place: $75,000
The wheelchair division includes a total of ten prize winners for men and women each, with a total of $150,500 in prize money ($75,250 for men and $75,250 for women). The prize money breakdown is as follows:
- 10th Place: $750
- 9th Place: $1,000
- 8th Place: $1,500
- 7th Place: $2,000
- 6th Place: $3,000
- 5th Place: $5,000
- 4th Place: $7,000

When is the Chicago Marathon 2023?
The 45th edition of the annual Chicago marathon, which will take place on October 8, 2023 taking place on Columbus Drive, the 26.2-mile loop will test each participant’s stamina as it travels to the north, west, and south corners of the city.
At the McCormick Place Lakeside Centre, the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo will be held, where participants may pick up their race bibs and other necessary supplies.
