The tournament began from May 19 and will ended on May 26 with the second day of final, with games starting at 16:00 GMT each day (21:30 IST). The action was aired live from the chess24 studio in Oslo, with commentary. Fans enjoyed nail-biting matches of the final between Pragg and Ding Liren along with tie-breaker on last day of Chessable Masters.

2022 Chessable Masters Tournament Rules and Format

Beginning with move 1, the players have 15 minutes to complete all of their movements, plus a 10-second increment. A win received 3 points in the preliminary round, while a tie earned 1 point.

If a tiebreaker is necessary, the players will play two 5+3 games and, if necessary, a single Armageddon game, in which White has 5 minutes and Black has 4, and a tie results in Black winning. Before move 40, no draw offers are permitted.

Chessable Masters 2022 Prize Money Pool Breakdown

The total prize fund for this tournament is $150,000, out of which, Ding won the $25,000 first prize, $6,250 in bonuses, and the honour of becoming the first Chinese player to win a Meltwater Champions Chess Tour championship in the fourth leg of the 2022 season. Pragg can be satisfied with $15,000 in prize money, $6,250 in bonuses, a spectacular run, and a finish ahead of World Champion Magnus Carlsen, whom Pragg defeated in the preliminary round.

Ding Liren of China defeated Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa of India to win the Chessable Masters tonight, despite an incredible fightback from the kid wonder. The world no. 2 had to overcome a remarkable comeback by 16-year-old Pragg, who had fallen behind in the final the day before. The teenager from Chennai had the support of a nation of chess lovers as he carried the final to overtime, but it was not to be.

Ding, who lives in Wengzhou, China, and competes in an inconvenient timezone, finally won the blitz play-off after his opponent blundered. It was approximately 2.30 a.m. in Chennai for Pragg, and 5 a.m. in China for Ding.
