The upcoming event will feature about 381 teams in the tournament, with 197 teams from the Open section and 184 teams from the Women’s championship.

45th Chess Olympiad dates and venue
The upcoming event will take place from September 10-23, at the BOK Sports Hall and Conference Center, in Budapest, Hungary.
45th Chess Olympiad format
The events will feature 11 rounds of action following the Swiss system format, with the time control of 90 minutes. Each game will feature 40 moves, alongside an additional 30 minutes until the end of the game. Players will also get a 30-second increment for each move that starts from move one.
381 teams compete in the tournament, with 197 teams in Open section and 184 teams in the Women’s championship and teams are made up of four players + one reserve player in both sections. The full list of seeded players can be found here. Live streaming of the event is available here.

45th Chess Olympiad opening ceremony
The Opening Ceremony of the upcoming tournament is set to take place on Tuesday, September 10. It is set to begin at around 18:00 (local time)/ 21:30 pm Monday, (IST), with the first round scheduled for Wednesday, September 11. Alongside the main event, the tournament will also feature a variety of side events, including the FIDE Congress from 17-22 September. Meanwhile, the tournament will also feature the ECU General Assembly on September 19, 2024.
