Chelsea will be losing one of their most highly rated academy players with Lewis Bate on the cusp of sealing a transfer to Leeds United
Chelsea having a rough day in the transfer market is not something which is seen too often. Given the club’s sprawling academy and owner Roman Abramovich’s ever willingness to pour money into the club, the side has often triumphed during the transfer window.
However, ever since winning the Champions League, things haven’t quite swung in Chelsea’ favour. There’s been no substantial development when it comes to the arrival of Erling Haaland with the club not making any meaningful progression in other interested players as well.
On the contrary, the club has gone onto lose the services of some extremely talented names. After Fikayo Tomori ended up leaving the side to depart to AC Milan, the club also saw young player March Guehi moving to Crystal Palace.
And it looks like the exodus of academy players isn’t going to stop this summer ahead of the 2021-22 season. Highly rated Lewis Bate is on the anvil of exiting the Premier League club with the player refusing to sign a new deal at Chelsea.
Chelsea Transfer News 2021-22: Lewis Bate On The Verge Of Leeds United Move
Having only one year left on his contract at the club, Bate has made his aspirations clear of playing his skill set elsewhere. With him unlikely to get any minutes in the club’s setup in the forthcoming season with Chelsea laden to the brim with talented midfielders, Bate has decided its prudent to play elsewhere.
Despite Southampton and West Ham both said to hold an avid interest in the 18 year old, it looks like Leeds United have won the race for his services. A transfer fee has been agreed upon by both the parties with Chelsea also including a sell on clause while there’s no buy back clause for the player.

While personal terms are yet to be agreed between Bate and Leeds United ahead of tomorrow’s medical, the transfer is all but sealed. He would become the fifth transfer at Elland Road this summer along with Jack Harrison, Junior Firpo, Amari Miller and Sean McGurk.
