Know the net worth and valuation of Chelsea, the odds of the new owner and sale news after Roman Abramovich reveals he wants to sell the club

Roman Abramovich is selling Chelsea, according to Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, who was one of four businesspeople contacted yesterday.

We take a look at the roots of the decision, Chelsea’s debts to Abramovich and Valuation, and Potential buyers.

Why Chelsea’s Owner is Considering the Sale of the Club?

Roman Abramovich is ready to sell Chelsea Football Club due to the fear of sanctions as a result of his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Despite the fact that Abramovich has yet to be sanctioned by the EU, the United Kingdom, or the United States, he is concerned about a possible retaliation as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.

In a statement released by the club, the side informed that the Russian has decided to part ways with the club after 19 years in charge, a period which saw him win 21 trophies and invest 2 billion pounds in transfers.

Roman Abramovich’s Selling Offer

According to Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, it is only a matter of time before Abramovich will sell Chelsea club. Wyss told the Swiss tabloid Blick that Abramovich is attempting to sell all of his English homes, and he also wants to get Chelsea off his hands as soon as possible.

According to Wyss, he and three other people received offer on 1st March 2022 to buy Chelsea from Abramovich. However, Wyss has postponed his decision due to large asking price of Abramovich.

How Much Money Does Chelsea Owe Owner Roman Abramovich?

As per reports, the asking price is around £3 billion. This amount is much higher than Abramovich’s original purchase price of £300 million ($400 million).

The sum will settle the £1.5 billion ($2 billion) debt owed by the west Londoners towards Abramovich over the last 19 years. Abramovich has informed the club he doesn’t want the debt repaid and will be giving the total money made through net sale to charity to help war ravaged Ukraine.

Valuation And Net Worth Of Chelsea Football Club and Potential New Owners Odds

According to Forbes, the club was worth $3.2 billion (£2.4 billion) in April 2021. Chelsea won the UCL and Club World Cup after that period, thus the club’s valuation can be much more. According to the club’s most recent financial records, the first team playing squad is worth about £1 billion.

Wyss, a Swiss businessman, is one of Chelsea’s possible buyers. He believes Chelsea is too pricey, even with his £4.6 billion ($6 billion) net wealth. Hence, he would like to buy the club as part of a group. According to him, he will only buy Chelsea with the help of a group of six to seven investors.

Todd Boehly, a part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, is leading a group alongside Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss. The pair have previously collaborated in business.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the CEO of INEOS is also linked with making an offer to purchase Chelsea due to his past interest in Chelsea. Apart from this, Conor McGregor took to Twitter to talk about wanting to purchase the side but there’s no substance to his claims made to emerge in the limelight.

Abu Dhabi tycoon Dr Sulaiman al-Fahim, the CEO of Abu Dhabi-based properties and also chairs Falcon Equity, was reported to be interested in putting in a bid to purchase Chelsea a couple of years back as well.

There is no update on the betting odds as of yet.
