Get up to speed with the injury update coming out of London from the list of Chelsea which suggests that Mateo Kovacic will return against Leeds United
Croatian midfielder sustained a hamstring injury in an intense training session and has been sidelined since October. His work rate is dearly missed in the middle of the park which has looked vulnerable at times.
Chelsea were stretched by the hands of West Ham who came back twice to win the game against the league leaders. West Ham looked well-drilled and were determined to win the game in front of their home crowd. Thomas Tuchel’s side were in desperate need of reinforcements when Havertz and Alonso were subbed.
I miss Mateo Kovacic balling every week.
I don’t know why he’s still out, but I hope whatever the injury he is back soon 💙 pic.twitter.com/oimvrmbasM

Chelsea Injury Update, List, News, Return Date: Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz
Tuchel’s side has dropped down to third after the weekend defeat at West Ham and will now face Zenit in the final group stage match. A whole new group of players has injured themselves to add on to the misery of Tuchel. Meanwhile, Kovacic is out with a hamstring injury and will not be available for team selection before the new year.
Croatian International Mateo Kovacic joined the club in 2018 on a loan move which was then made permanent. Initially, he found it difficult to adjust to the pace of the Premier League but improved significantly under Frank Lampard.
Therefore, upon Tuchel’s arrival, the Croatian changed his game completely and transformed into a complete midfielder. He is often underrated in the Chelsea team but is a crucial part of the team which is now being missed by the club.
He is very mobile which allows him to easily maneuver across the midfield and conducts smooth transitional play. Kovacic suffered a hamstring injury in the intense training session at Chelsea and has since been out of action. Meanwhile, he has recovered successfully from the injury and has returned to training as well with him envisaged to return for the club’s weekend Premier League encounter against Leeds United.
Kovacic has appeared in 153 games for the Blues and has found the net on 3 occasions. He is a big miss for Thomas Tuchel who is wishing nothing more than a speedy recovery of the Croatian.
