2022 Championship League Snooker Tournament Schedule, Venue. Format, and Rules
A professional ranking snooker competition called the 2022 Championship League was held at Leicester, England’s Morningside Arena from June 28 to July 29, 2022. A best-of-five final followed three rounds of round-robin groupings of four players in the competition, which had 128 players. The first ranking event of the 2022–2023 snooker season, it was the 19th Championship League.
The format for group play matches was best of four frames, with a win worth three points and a tie worth one point. Points scored, frame differential, and head-to-head outcomes between tied players were used to determine group placements. The highest break made in the group was then used to break any remaining ties.
Third Stage Group Winners & Events
Brecel began the day with Zhao Xintong, Xiao Guodong, and Lyu Haotian as fellow rivals in the second group of third stage. Before Brecel’s day started off in the worst way conceivable with a 3-1 loss against Xiao, Zhao gave the group the best possible start with three points over Lyu. Brecel, however, appeared to get fired up after the defeat, as he quickly rebounded to upset Lyu 3-0. The Scottish Open champion shot 93 in the opening round before scoring enough points in the second to lead 2-0. In the last frame, a single visit of 108 was sufficient for Brecel to gain three points and open his point tally.
After the initial loss, Brecel appeared to be a man on a mission, as he beat Zhao in the first frame with a break of 82. Brecel’s brief breaks in the second gave him 68-0 and put him one away from the championship. Zhao made 51 before failing to take advantage of the balls that were strategically placed for Brecel to capitalize and as a result, Luca Brecel secured a place in the championship match after topping Group 1 of Third Stage.
Lu entered the championship match after winning Group 1 on Table 2 that was competitive and inseparable in the afternoon. Stuart Bingham, Ricky Walden, and Pang Junxu were all unable to secure a victory, unlike Lu. However, Lu moved ahead of the pack after a superb evening session and qualified for the final.

Lu made 67 in the first frame of the championship match, but Brecel grabbed it on the black to take the lead by one. After that, Brecel regained his flow despite falling to Lu’s 73-point performance in the second frame. The Belgian Bullet contributed with 72 of his own in the third to come within one of winning. Brecel, who has already won a Championship League Snooker tournament, gave the air a fist bump as he made the black that put him over the finish line and sealed his victory.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
The winner of the Snooker Championship League in 2022, Luca Brecel will get a cash reward of £20,000. Meanwhile, the second-placed player Lu Ning will receive cash prize of $10,000. However, the monetary prize was awarded for each round of the competition and helped the players get additional rewards. As a result, the total prize pool of the competition is set to be £800,000.
