The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, also known as the Champions Chess Tour 2022, is a nine-month series of nine online chess tournaments in which some of the world’s best players fight for a US$1.6 million prize pool. The journey will take place from February 19, 2022, through November 20, 2022.
The $1.6 million Meltwater Champions Chess Tour will conclude with the Oslo Esports Cup, the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour’s first totally in-person esports event. The tournament, which will take place from April 22 to April 28, will be the first Major of the season.
Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 Leg 3 Format, Schedule, Date, Time
Players will participate in one four-game round every day for seven days, with the winner being the one with the highest points – and cash – overall. The season’s first Major, the third of nine Tour elite-level events, will take place from April 22 to 28.
The tournament will take place from April 22 to April 28, with action beginning at 12:00 ET (21:30 IST) every day. The Oslo Esports Cup will be the first time the biggest and most prestigious online chess tour has arranged a fully in-person event from a single arena, chess24.com’s dedicated broadcast studio. Fans will be able to watch Round 4 matches starting at 18:00 CEST on April 25th.

Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa won his third match in a row today, keeping his flawless start at the prestigious Oslo Esports Cup going. After crushing Liem Quang Le with a game to spare, India’s 16-year-old superstar-in-the-making is the only player with 9/9 points and has won the maximum $22,500 so far.
Meanwhile, Magnus Carlsen bounced back from his loss to Liem with a comfortable 2.5-0.5 victory over Giri. In another match, Jan-Krzysztof Duda of Poland won his second match in a row with a decisive 2.5-0.5 victory over Jorden van Foreest of the Netherlands.
Streamer Eric Hansen, the event’s lowest-ranked player at world No. 237, stunned world No. 10 Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the final match of Day 3.
In Round 4, Pragg will play World Champion Magnus Carlsen. If Pragg can defeat Carlsen again, like he did two months ago, the teenager will be the overwhelming favourite to win the first Major of the 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour season.

Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Leg 3 Prize Money Pool Distribution
The Oslo Esports Cup will have a total prize pool of $210,000, with $7,500 going to the victor of each four-match round. If the match proceeds to a tie-breaker, the winner will be awarded $5000, while the loser will be awarded $2000.
Pragg has already won $10,000 in two tournaments at the age of sixteen. The teenager, though, has an opportunity to considerably enhance his prize pool by earning up to $7,500 for each round played in the Major.
