After winning 6-3 against four-time world champion Mark Selby, reigning champion Judd Trump qualified for final at 2022 Champion of Champions. The winner of O’Sullivan vs. Fan Zhengyi will be final opponent for Trump in Sunday’s final.

With a score of 89, Trump easily won the opening frame but, Selby came back to win the second frame. Later, Trump won the third frame to retake the lead before making it 3-1 with 74 break in fourth frame. After mid-session break, both players showed quality as Selby recovered his rhythm and made 66 to reduce deficit. After some tussle in the sixth frame, Selby clinched it to tie the score line at 3-3.

Trump, the defending champion, did a beautiful job of splitting the pack in the seventh frame, clearing the way for a break of 83 that gave him the advantage. Trump saved his best for last, moving one closer to the championship with a break of 114 to green that would make the crowd happy to leave. He then won the ninth frame to finish with a 6-3 victory. Following this victory, Trump has sealed his berth in final of this tournament and is just one win away from retaining his title.

On Saturday’s semi-final match, reigning world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan will face-off against underdog Fan Zhengyi. The winner of this clash will seal his berth in final against Judd Trump.

Prize Money Pool Distribution at 2022 Champion of Champions

The winner at 2022 Champion of Champions will receive a hefty reward of £150,000, and the runner-up will receive £60,000. Each semi-final loser will also receive £30,000 from the £427,000 total prize pool. After losing in the semifinals, Mark Selby will take home £30,000 in prize money.
