Judd Trump’s championship defence got off to a strong start when he defeated Luca Brecel 4-2 to kick off Day 3 of competition. Later in the afternoon session, Mark Allen made his campaign debut with a strong performance, defeating Welsh Open champion Joe Perry by a score of 4-2. As a result of these outcomes, it was decided that Trump and Allen would compete in the Group-1 final of the evening session.
With breaks of 58 and 54, Trump quickly captured opening frame of group final, leaving Allen motionless. Trump quickly made it 3-0 with contribution of 78 in the second frame and 64 in the third frame, capitalizing on the momentum that was in his favor. However, Allen gained some hope after scoring century break in fourth frame, which reduced deficit to 3-1. After the break, Trump continued to dominate by making 104 in the fifth frame and 79 in the sixth frame, which saw him take 5-1 lead. Despite his massive lead, Trump didn’t slow his pace and sealed victory by winning seventh frame. This win has confirmed Trump’s place in final-four of tournament, where he will face Mark Selby in a clash of titans.
Ronnie O’Sullivan, the current world champion, will take on Robert Milkins on Thursday in a Group 2 matchup. Zhao Xintong will play Mink Nutcharut later on in the second game of the afternoon session.

Prize Money Pool Distribution at 2022 Champion of Champions
At 2022 Champion of Champions, the winner will get substantial reward of £150,000, and the runner-up will receive £60,000. Every semi-final loser will also receive £30,000 from the £427,000 total prize pool.
