Sidhu Moosewala documentary
Concern has been raised by the father of Sidhu Moosewala over the movie’s “unauthorised and unpublished” content, which includes sensitive details about his son’s life and death as well as private testimony. In his case, he claims that the documentary may harm the current murder prosecution and utilizes Moosewala’s name, picture, and personal background without getting permission from his family.
“The screening could misrepresent and exploit my son’s story, interfere with judicial proceedings, and provoke public unrest due to the sensitive subject matter,” Balkaur Singh wrote, warning the public that the film might violate Indian legal protections on privacy, defamation, and posthumous dignity.
Balkaur Singh, who enclosed a copy of the invitation, stated that the screening was scheduled for June 11 from 3 to 6 p.m. and demanded police intervention, including the presence of officers at the location and the granting of prohibitory orders in accordance with the pertinent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) or other applicable laws.
Additionally, he stated that he was getting ready to file a lawsuit to file a civil suit against the film’s organizers and producers. He did, however, stress that urgent action was required to “protect the dignity and legacy” of his deceased son and stop the spread of “unlawful or defamatory content.”
In May 2022, Sidhu Moosewala was shot in the Mansa district of Punjab. Public was triggered by his murder and it is now the focus of a well-publicized criminal inquiry.
