All good things, alas, must come to an end, and yesterday, December 27, viewers eagerly awaited the conclusion of the first season of the anime version of Chainsaw Man.

Chainsaw Man Anime Season 1 Ending Explained, Is Episode 12 Happy Or Sad

With three fairly puzzling post-credit sequences, some viewers are looking for an explanation of Chainsaw Man season 1’s climax. These scenes involve Aki, Denji, and an unidentified lady wearing a collar and a trainer. This article contains spoilers for the finale episode.

Explained Chainsaw Man Season 1 Ending: Aki

As the episode 12 titles start to roll, we find Aki, Denji, and Power having a good time in their shared apartment.

The trio’s living situation has been rather problematic throughout season 1, but they seem to be enjoying themselves as they celebrate their recent triumph, with Power and Denji eating so much that they fell asleep on the floor.

At this point, Aki decides to go outside onto the balcony and light up the cigarette that the Ghost Devil had given him earlier when they were fighting Sawatari.

When Himeno and Aki first started working together at the Public Safety Division, she kept this particular cigarette secure for the entire time that Aki was an underage smoker. She did this until the day when he was old enough to smoke without concern.

The words “Easy Revenge” are written on the cigarette’s side. Aki sits silently as she watches the words burn away and the smoke escapes into the chilly Tokyo evening air.

Explained Ending Of Season 1 Of Chainsaw Man: Denji

Denji dreamt again while unconscious on the living room floor while Aki lit Himeno’s final cigarette and was smoking it on the balcony. The vision of Denji alone in a lonely alleyway as a little child that we saw in season 1 episode 1 is continued in this dream.

Denji realises that he usually experiences the same dream but continuously forgets it when he wakes up as he approaches the strange door at the end of the alleyway in this particular dream sequence.

He hears Pochita calling his name from the other side of the door as he approaches it. Denji approaches to open the door, eager to reconnect himself with his old friend/pet, but Pochita abruptly orders him not to.

The door vanishes into the night as the dream comes to an end.

Explained Chainsaw Man Season 1 Ending: Reze

The Chainsaw Man season 1 finale’s post-credit sequence then changes to a panorama of Tokyo with clouds in the sky, people strolling through a park, and sunrays beaming down the winding lanes of back alleys.

After then, a lady in white sneakers ascends a flight of stone steps while narrating, “Tell me, Denji…between the country mouse and the city mouse…Which would you rather be?”

Reze, also known as Lady Reze, will be unveiled as this character. She will serve as the main adversary in the next Bomb Girl arc, which is anticipated to be adapted in Chainsaw Man season 2.

Reze is from the Soviet Union and has a contract with the Bomb Devil; like Sawatari and Katana Man, she was brought to Japan with the objective of capturing Denji’s heart.

SugoiLITE, a well-known anime leaker, has reported that Reina Ueda will provide Reze’s voice in Chainsaw Man season 2.

Katana Man, a hybrid, lives and transforms back into a human. However, Denji quickly restrains him while he is unconscious.
