On Sunday, the 2024 Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) kicked off with an exhilarating match between the Mumbai Heroes and Kerala Strikers at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the Mumbai Heroes had a shaky start, losing four wickets for just 29 runs as their top order failed to perform. However, resilient contributions from the lower order helped them reach a modest total of 76/7 in their allotted 10 overs.
In response, the Kerala Strikers gained a slender lead of six runs after their first innings, posting a score of 100/6 by the end of the second innings, setting the stage for an intriguing match heading into the third innings. In the third innings, the Mumbai Heroes raised their game and managed to score 85/5, setting a competitive target of 92 runs for the Kerala Strikers.
However, Kerala’s chase didn’t go as planned as Saqib Saleem of the Mumbai Heroes wreaked havoc, claiming three quick wickets and leaving Kerala struggling at 14/3 after just three overs. Despite efforts from the middle and lower order, Kerala fell short by nine runs, managing only 83/5 in their allotted 10 overs in the fourth innings.
