2023 Cazoo UK Open: Andrew Gilding vs Michael van Gerwen final results, score, & match summary
In his first televised final, Gilding came back from being 7-9 down to deny Van Gerwen a fourth UK Open victory. Gilding also survived a match dart in the thrilling last leg to win the top prize of £110,000. In 2015, Van Gerwen defeated the 52-year-old in the UK Open semifinals, but the Suffolk pro avenged that loss magnificently to win his maiden PDC title in front of 5,000 enthusiastic spectators.
Gilding’s amazing victory propels him into the top 25 in the world, and his accomplishments this past weekend have also secured him a place in the Grand Slam of Darts in November. He had earlier defeated Germany’s No. 2 Martin Schindler with a thumping 10-4 victory to qualify for the semi-final, emulating his run to the last four in 2015. Gilding then defeated Adam Gawlas of the Czech Republic in the semifinals, winning six of the final seven legs to seal an arduous 11-6 victory.

A prize fund of $600,000 is projected for the 2023 Cazoo UK Open.
