2022 Candidates Chess Tournament Results, Point Table, Latest Standings, And Ian Nepomniachtchi’s Dominance

GM Ian Nepomniachtchi is 1.5 points ahead of the competition with four rounds remaining in the Madrid 2022 Candidates Tournament. For that, a draw with GM Teimour Radjabov was adequate, as GM Fabiano Caruana ultimately fell to GM Jan-Krzysztof Duda. Caruana was passed for second place by GMs Ding Liren and Hikaru Nakamura, who triumphed over GMs Richard Rapport and Alireza Firouzja, respectively.

Nepomniachtchi is close to winning the event after extending his lead today. He keeps his composure, does his own thing, and most importantly: he is not losing while the rest of the field is busy beating one other. The previous Candidates winner is moving closer and closer to winning his second Candidates back-to-back, a feat that has only been accomplished once in tournament history by one player.
