The Spartans of San Jose State are sad about the death of one of their own. Camdan Mcwright was a freshman on the San Jose State football team and played running back. The match is postponed due to the accident. The Sun said that he would have turned 19 in December. The company Lime rented McWright’s scooter, and he wasn’t wearing a helmet.
“We lost an amazing young man tragically this morning. Camdan Mcwright had a bright future ahead of him and everyone in this community. That had the opportunity to spend time with him knew that,” San Jose State football coach Brent Brennan said in a statement.

SJSU President Steve Perez said, “The loss of our student is heartbreaking and devastating for our San José State community. We grieve for Camdan Mcwright, his family, friends, teammates, and the Spartan family. We grieve together and will provide all of the support that Camdan’s family, our students and our football program require to help move through this tragic time.”
The accident happened two blocks from the SJSU campus. CHP is investigating the case. Officer Mike Lee said that video and witness accounts showed that the school bus had a green light when it went into an intersection with about 14 students on board.
“The 18-year-old pedestrian (Camdan Mcwright) riding an electric scooter was traveling south on 10th street and entered the intersection at the crosswalk and was crossing to the opposing sidewalk,” Lee said. “He was in the crosswalk when he was struck by the bus. (He) did sustain fatal injuries immediately at the scene.”
