The error has affected players across all gaming platforms whether it is PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 or PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S.
How To Fix
Following the issue, Infinity Ward gave some recommendations advising players on how to handle the issue. MW2 players who are facing similar issues when trying to access online multiplayer match can follow the given steps:
- Enter the quick settings menu for your platform (Xbox Button, PS Options Button etc.)
- Exit out
Performing the two steps given above will refresh the game and take MW2 players back to the correct menu which they need to get online.
PlayStation players can also use the official restore licences fix to access the correct portal for accessing the online multiplayer. Simply follow the steps given below

Extra Tips
Infinity Ward also warned users to refrain from changing to regions other than the official region to avoid connectivity issues.
If indeed players are logged into a different region, change the region on the account and log in again.
Currently there are several issues with MW2 and players should address the Call of Duty Twitter account for support issues. The account is very active and quickly responds to issues making it the most reliable help portal.
Infinity Ward will probably release a couple of updates to patch the current issues that players are facing on a long-term basis.
However, for now players can only follow the official fixes given above by Infinity Ward and hope that they work for a smoother gameplay.
