The African football community is gearing up to honor its top players, coaches, and clubs at the CAF Awards 2024 as its all set to take place soon. Here’s all the details that you need to know about.
The tournament is organized by the Confederation of African Football and the ceremony will highlight the outstanding achievement over the past year. The iconic awards were established in 2000, and later they expanded on the African Footballer of the Year accolade, first introduced by CAF in 1992. Before then, the honor was managed by French publication “France Football.”

CAF Awards 2024
For the curious, the CAF Awards 2024 are set to place on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco.
The ceremony will begin at 19:00 Moroccan time, 18:00 GMT/19:00 Lagos, 20:00 Johannesburg, 21:00 East Africa. Attendees are expected to arrive 90 minutes before the event starts.
Nominees and Categories
Fifteen awards will be presented, including seven for men, seven for women, and the Goal of the Year award.
Fans have the opportunity to influence the latter by voting on CAF’s official website, with voting open until Thursday, December 12. Here’s the complete list:

The CAF awards, including African Player of the Year, are determined each year by an amalgamation of various voting factions and according to the CAF official release, voting blocs will come from “a diverse panel,” including media members, head coaches, club and national-team captains, and the CAF Technical Committee.
Fan voting is only conducted for the Goal of the Year award, amounting to 70% of the total weight in deciding the winner.
