BWF German Open Badminton Women’s Singles And Doubles All-Time Winners List And 2022 Prize Money Pool

The German Open badminton has been held in Germany every year since 1955 (excluding in 1970, 1979, and 1998), know its previous winners list

It is organised by the German Badminton Association or Deutscher Badminton Verband (DBV).

Until 1980, the German Badminton Championships were the name of the competition. It was renamed the Open Championships in 1981 after the name was altered in 1980.

What Is The German Badminton Open And Format

The tournament currently has Yonex as a sponsor. Yonex Co., Ltd., established in Japan, is a sports equipment company. Tennis, badminton, golf, and jogging equipment and gear are also produced by the company.

Despite the fact that it attracts professional players, the event is not one of the Badminton World Federation’s highest levels of competition, being categorised as a BWF Grand Prix Gold event until 2017 and a Super 300 tournament (6th level) from 2018 onwards.

Bonn (from 1995 to 1962), Hamburg (in 1963 and 1969), Lübeck (in 1964), Bochum (in 1965), Hanover (in 1966), Frankfurt (in 1967), West Berlin (in 1968), Oberhausen (from 1971 to 1974 and in 1978), Mülheim an der Ruhr (from 1975 to 1977, 1980 to 1982 and 2005 to present), Duisburg ( from 1983 to 1986 and 1999 to 2004), Düsseldorf (from 1987 to 1991) and Leverkusen ( from 1992 to 1995), are the German cities that hosted this tournament since now.

The German Open Prize Money 2022 Breakdown

This event had a total prize pool of $180,000.

The singles tournament winner will get $13.5k from the entire prize pool. The winner in the doubles match would take home $14.2,000.

A $6.8k singles prize fund will be awarded to runners-up or finalists who did not win the Germany Open BWF competition.

The prize pool for the singles semi-finalist has been increased to $2.6 million, while the prize pool for the doubles semi-finalist has been reduced to $2.5 million.
