Following this victory, Indiaโs top-ranked menโs singles player will face world No. 6 Kodai Naraoka of Japan in the quarter-finals.
Sameer Verma, ranked 114th, stunned world No. 12 Loh Kean Yew of Singapore to secure his spot in the Australian Open quarter-finals. Sameer triumphed in a thrilling three-game match, winning 21-14, 14-21, 21-19 in 62 minutes. He will next face world No. 17 Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei.
In the womenโs singles, eighth-seeded Aakarshi Kashyap overcame Kai Qi Teoh of Australia 21-16, 21-13 to advance to the quarter-finals, where she will compete against third-seeded Pai Yu-Po of Chinese Taipei. In the mixed doubles category, B. Sumeeth Reddy and N. Sikki Reddy advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating the Australian pair Kai Chen Teoh and Kai Qi Teoh.
