Four students at the University of Idaho were killed by 28-year-old Bryan Kohberger who was studying criminal justice at the time of the killings and had applied for an internship with the police

More than six weeks after the horrible murder that shocked the college town of Moscow, Idaho, Bryan Kohberger was caught in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania on December 30.

Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Xana Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, were all stabbed to death in the girls’ off-campus house early on November 13. Officials say that two other roommates, who are not suspects, managed to stay alive.

The university said that Kohberger, who is getting his Ph.D. at Washington State University, finished his first semester in the criminal justice programme last month.

The police said that in the fall of 2022, Kohberger put in for an internship with the Pullman police. According to court documents, he wrote in an essay that he wanted to teach “rural law enforcement agencies with how to better collect and analyse technological data in public safety operations,”

“Kohberger also posted a Reddit survey which … asked for participants to provide information to ‘understand how emotions and psychological traits influence decision making when committing a crime,'” the affidavit said.

Public defender speaks for Bryan Kohberger’s innocence

When Kohberger’s semester at Washington State University ended in December, he and his father drove across the country to the family’s home in Pennsylvania, said Jason LaBar, the Monroe County Chief public defender.

LaBarJason LaBar says that they took the planned road trip in the white Hyundai Elantra that police said they were looking for because of the murders. LaBar said that the father and son were stopped twice in Indiana, once for speeding and once for driving too close to the car in front of them.

DeSales University in Pennsylvania says that Kohberger got his bachelor’s degree there in 2020 and finished his graduate work there in June 2022. LaBar said, “Mr. Kohberger is eager to be exonerated of these charges.”
