From 2000 to 2003, there was a low-key Group N class for production cars.

Champions in the past
Each season, five championships are given out. The driver who accumulates the most points throughout the season wins the overall driver’s championship. Since 1992, the leading non-manufacturer-backed driver has received the Independents driver title. There are other prizes for the best overall team, leading manufacturer, and top independent team, which has been given since 2005. Between 2000 and 2003, the championship was awarded to the best “Production” (or “Class B”) driver and team.
For the 2013 season, the Jack Sears Trophy was created, and it was given to the top scoring driver competing in S2000 machinery. Due to the fact that S2000 cars were no longer eligible to compete in 2014, it was given to the driver who had gained the most positions from their starting position throughout the season. The Jack Sears Trophy has been given to the highest-placed rookie driver at the end of the season since 2015. In 2018, the Jack Sears Trophy was open to any driver who has yet to finish on the overall podium in the 60th anniversary year.
