10 triple-header events at eight different UK venues
The British Touring Car Championship has unveiled its race calendar for 2022, which includes 10 triple-header events at eight different UK venues. The season will begin at Donington Park and culminate at Brands Hatch, with two events held at Thruxton once again.
On April 23, the season will begin at Donington Park’s National circuit, followed by Brands Hatch Indy, Thruxton, Oulton Park, and Croft. After the summer break, the championship will resume with Knockhill, Snetterton, a return to Thruxton, and Silverstone’s National circuit, before concluding on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix track on October 9th.
Following a year of intense research and development by series organiser TOCA, the 2022 season will see the debut of hybrid power for the first time. The championship’s existing 2.0-litre turbocharged powertrain will be supplemented with a 60V gearbox-mounted electric motor, adding around 40bhp to each car’s output. It will be used to replace success ballast, with race winners’ use of the hybrid system restricted.
BTCC confirms full race calendar for 2022 The UK’s biggest motorsport championship will transition to a hybrid format in 2022, with a 10-event, 30-round schedule.
