As the circumstances surrounding Ana Walshe disappearance continue to confound investigators, her husband, Brian Walshe, has emerged as a strange character in the courts since 2018 and, to those who know him, even longer with him not even sparing his father Thomas Walshe
The first photo of Brian Walshe’s crooked grin appeared in Boston area publications in 2018, taken from the federal complaint detailing the art-world fraud in which Walshe defrauded at least two people: his friend, from whom he stole the Andy Warhol paintings, and a second, whom he sold fakes to.
Nonetheless, Brian Walshe’s sentencing in the art world fraud has been repeatedly postponed. Due to a Plymouth County Probate Court matter that has raised more questions than it has answered. This has frustrated both the prosecution and the defence, as well as U.S. District Court Judge Douglas P. Woodlock.
Brian Walshe husband of missing mother Ana Walshe had defrauded his father Dr Thomas Walshe
Diana and Dr. Thomas M. Walshe III had a son named Brian, however it appears they had very different perspectives on their only kid. When authorities were looking into Ana Walshe’s disappearance on New Year’s Day, he allegedly told them that he travelled over to her Swampscott residence that day to run errands to CVS and Whole Foods in order to care for his mother, who had been battling lung cancer.
The police now admit that wasn’t the truth. His phone allegedly started ringing in Abington and Brockton, two cities he was not permitted to visit while under house arrest in the federal case. However, the current representative of the late Dr. Walshe, whose name is on the general neurology department at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, claims that the connection between the two was strained at best.
Brian Walshe and his father had broken relationship between them
The doctor who was often on the go kept in touch with his nephew Andrew Walshe through letters. In an affidavit submitted to the probate court in December 2019, the younger man stated that Dr. Walshe had asked him to be the executor of his estate somewhere between winter 2019 and winter 2010. And that the nephew had consented to the position.
As a result of the claimed incident, Dr. Walshe “had to continue working past the age at which he planned to retire,” and their relationship “split irreparably.”
As the CEO of J/Brice Design International in Boston, Jeffrey Ornstein claims to have been Thomas Walshe’s “best friend”. And was therefore given access to the Hull residence once it had been rebuilt. After Dr. Walshe passed away on September 21, 2018, Brian contacted Ornstein to gain entry to the house in order to retrieve the necessary paperwork for repatriating his father’s body to the United States.
Ornstein confirms that he observed Dr. Walshe’s will on his desk at the residence; the document expressly disinherited his son. He claims to have photographed the document but to have afterwards left it where it was found.
Brian Walshe lying about will of his father
On December 6, 2018, Brian Walshe stated in court documents that there was no will for his father’s estate. And petitioned to become the personal representative. That was contested, and on July 17, 2019, Andrew Walshe was named the estate’s representative.
After those probate challenges, the government noted in a sentencing statement that the son had sold off many estate assets. Including over $100,000 in bank money, paintings by Joan Miro and Dali, diverse art. And even a car, during his term as representative. They want him to reveal the estate’s full financial status to them.
Unfortunately, in the intervening months, most of the estate’s worth is likely to have eroded, as Andrew Walshe said in his statement.
