According to TMZ Sports, Ironman competitor Brian Kozera passed away on Saturday following a cycling accident in Pennsylvania, know his obituary, daughter and accident

The Norristown Police Department Issued The Following Statement After The Pennsylvania Native’s Passing

“Brian was a giant who always gave everything he had to everything he undertook. You couldn’t find a more devoted husband and father—his family was the focus of his world, according to his obituary.”

A 44-year-old After passing away while preparing for the Ironman, a revered veteran police officer in Pennsylvania’s community is mourned.

According to a crash report from the Pennsylvania State Police, cancer survivor Brian Kozera, a 16-year veteran of the Norristown Police Department, was riding his bike early on Saturday when he ran a stop sign and collided with a pickup truck’s passenger side. Kozera was thrown off his bike and under the truck’s wheels by the impact of the collision, according to the report.

Kozera was taken to Reading Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds later on. As per the report, Kozera was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver didn’t leave the accident scene and was present there.

The Pennsylvania State Police has been contacted by the media for more information.

Kozera was a member of the Bicycle Unit and a Use of Force teacher when employed by the Norristown Police Department. According to a Facebook post made by Norristown Police, he was also a School Resource Officer at Eisenhower Middle School.

Kozera said in a blog post that he was preparing for the rigorous Ironman World Championship, which will be held in Kona, Hawaii, in October this year. The competition consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile cycle ride, and a 26.2-mile run (marathon).

Kozera Was A Cancer Survivor

After receiving a 2014 diagnosis of a rare disease termed lymphocyte-depleted Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the police veteran was raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), a cause close to him and his family.

The next year, Kozera “fought” cancer after getting a bone marrow transplant and 16 rounds of chemotherapy. He then started preparing for the Philadelphia Marathon and set his sights on racing in his first-ever Ironman race in Austria in 2016. He’s taken part in a total of six Ironman races.

According to his obituary, “Brian was larger than life and always contributed everything he had.” “He was a completly devoted husband and parent; he family was the center of his universe. He will be remembered for having a big heart, a constant smile, a drive to serve others, and a motto of “Go Big or Go Home.””

The three daughters Kozera and his wife Kristin have left behind, along with his sister Leslie and brother Brian.
