Emporia State University Mourns the passing of their sophomore football player Brexten Green, know his cliff jumping accident, cause of death and age
On Saturday, July 2, Brexten was passed away in an accident on cliff jumping at Grand Lake in Oklahoma.

The friend’s, families and known one’s are in shock after listening to this news. They are paying their tributes to the deceased in their own way. The Emporia State’ Football coach Garin Higgins said in an interview that, “It’s a terrible day for Emporia State football and just a devastating loss for the Green family”.

He further added, “Brexten was a great teammate who cared so much about this football program. It showed in his competitive spirit, his work ethic and his willingness to be there for his teammates. He will always be a part of our Hornet football family”.
He continued, “He was committed to being the best player he could be and would have developed into a great player for us because of those characteristics.
“He was a typical ESU player that lived the core bricks of our program and we will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his parents Brett and LaMae and the entire family”.
Brexten Green Career as Football Player
Brexten Green aged 20 was about to start his second year at Emporia State University after red-shirting last season. He was a 5-10, 190 pound receiver from Cashion HS in Okla.
He was selected through All-State by the Oklahoma Coaches Association for 2020 class A state champion wildcats. He was also the district’s A-3 player of the Year as a senior after gaining 1,720 receiving, 409 rushing and 27 touchdowns.
According to the reports the funeral arrangements for Green will be announced at a later date. The reports said that the Emporia State’ Counselors will be available for the members of the Hornet football team online through zoom to remind them of the holiday weekend.
They also said that the students and staff who were close to Green can seek help from the Counselors. The Counseling Services for students and staff will start from Tuesday, Jul 5, 2022 at around 11:00-2:00. If anyone isn’t able to go and meet the Counselors directly at the given time then they can directly reach out to them through a call at 620-341-5222.
