Saweety Boora is an Indian boxer who competes in the middleweight weight category, know her age, height and husband 

She won a gold medal at Women’s World Boxing Championships Final.

Saweety Boora won a gold medal at IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. She also won a silver medal at AIBA in 2014 at the Women’s World Boxing Championships in the light heavyweight category.

Boora was born on the 10th of January in 1993 and presently her age is 30 years as of 2023. She is 5ft 5in tall and her weight is 75 kg.

Saweety Boora’s family and education

Saweety Boora hails from Hisar, Haryana. Boora was born to her father Mahender Singh who is a farmer and was also played basketball player at the national level. Saweety formerly played state-level kabaddi before switching to boxing in 2009.

Saweety Boora was initially trained at the farmlands near Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University and then she moved out of Haryana in order to pursue her career in sports. On the 7th of July 2022, she got married to Deepak Niwas Hooda.

Her sister Siwi Boora is also a well-known Indian boxer and both these sisters completed their education in Haryana.

Saweety Boora career and latest news

At the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships of 2014 in Jeju City, she won a silver medal in the light heavyweight event after she lost the final to China’s wang Xiaoli. Saweety was the first Indian who was a finalist at the Asian Women’s Amateur Boxing Championships held in 2015. In this championship, she won a silver medal after losing to the same opponent.

In late 2017, she received the Government of Haryana’s Bhim Award for her achievements in the 2015– 2016 season. Boora changed the weight category from light to heavyweight 81 kg to middleweight 75 kg being a part of the Summer Olympics.

Boora further got eliminated in the pre-quarterfinal round at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships of 2019.  Saweety Boora has become the 7th Indian boxer who has become a World Champion after defeating Wang Lina of China by a score of 4-3 on the 25th of March 2023 in the Light heavyweight category.
