Manny Pacquiao has decided to throw his hat in the reckoning for becoming the president of Philippines come 2022
With his illustrious boxing career at its tailend now, boxer Manny Pacquiao has decided to turn his undivided attention to politics with him set to run as a presidency candidate in the elections for the president of Philippines come 2022.
Manny Pacquiao who is a senator in the country accepted his party, PDP-Laban’s nomination to add his name to a fight which makes for an intoxicating brew. Manny will be competing against erstwhile ally Rodrigo Duterte who is currently the president of the country.
Manny Pacquiao Becomes Second Person To Officially Run For The President Of Philippines In 2022
Manny was nominated by PDP-Laban’s party members on Sunday at the national assembly of the party who elected him as the standard-bearer. The boxer has also been given permission to choose his running mate along with his senate slate.
“To those who continue to serve in government to exploit and steal from the country’s coffers, you will find yourselves in jail soon,” Manny said as he talked about how his campaign would be run on an anti-corruption theme.
“It is now the time for our nation to rise from poverty. It is now the time for a clean government where every centavo goes to Filipinos,” he continued.
