The bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympics defeated Australia’s Caitlin Parker at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium thanks to a judge’s decision in the 75 kg final contest.
Despite her disappointment at losing in the quarterfinal stage of the Commonwealth Games the year before, Lovlina, who had won the bronze medal at the World Championships in 2018 and 2019, triumphed in New Delhi.

Borgohain is from the Golaghat, district of Assam. Her parents are Tiken and Mamoni Borgohain.
Being the youngest of three sister-siblings and having previously practised Muay Thai, Lovlina opted to pursue boxing after seeing her twin sisters Licha and Lima start out in kickboxing.

When she won the women’s welterweight competition’s bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, she became just the third Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal.
In addition to winning a gold medal in the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2023, she also won bronze medals at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2018 and 2019.
She is the first female boxer from Assam to compete for her country at the Olympics is Borgohain. She became the sixth Assamese to earn the Arjuna Award in 2020.
After Borgohain signed a contract with them in 2019, Infinity Optimal Solutions (IOS), a sports management organization, supervised her endorsements and business ventures.
