CM Sarma At The Opening Ceremony Of The Botanical Garden

Chief Minister Dr. Sarma spoke to the crowd at the opening ceremony, emphasising the transformative process that produced this botanical paradise. The Guwahati Central Jail was initially intended to be relocated to Lokhra, but the idea changed during the BJP government.

During Dr Sarma’s time as the Minister of the Guwahati Development Department, it was decided that a public park or garden would be built on this property in place of a mall.

Sarma expressed his happiness at this most recent improvement to Guwahati’s public facilities. According to him, the Botanical Garden’s opening gives plenty of open places for the city’s inhabitants. The deliberate choice to refer to it as a “botanical garden” shows the desire to turn it into a repository for the area’s rare and indigenous plants.

Dr Sarma urged the locals to care for the plants and announced that garden guides would be posted there to teach the next generation about the area’s unique flora history.
