The Celtics are all set for a duck-boat parade after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals.

Ahead of the parade, Celtics players travelled to Miami on Wednesday to celebrate the title and will return to New England by the end of the week.

Celtics parade start time and parade route

According to the announcement made by Wu, the parade is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Friday. The Duck boats will take off in front of the TD Garden on Causeway Street and continue past City Hall Plaza. The duck boats will pass through Boston Common on Tremont Street before finally concluding on Boylston Street near the Hynes Convention Center.

Chance to ride in the parade

Ahead of the parade, the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation is holding a raffle, offering a championship parade experience. The lucky winner of the raffle, along one guest, will ride in Friday’s parade and receive an autographed Boston Celtics 2023–24 basketball. Celtics parade street closures

Given below are the street set to close for the upcoming Celtics parade starting at 12:01 a.m. on Friday:

  • Causeway Street, Both sides, from North Washington Street to Merrimac Street
  • Staniford Street, Both sides, from Causeway Street to Cambridge Street
  • Cambridge Street, Both sides, from Staniford Street to Tremont Street
  • Tremont Street, Both sides from Cambridge Street to Boylston Street
  • Boylston Street, Both sides from Washington Street to Massachusetts Avenue

Celtics parade parking restrictions

Aside from street closures, the city will also impose various parking restrictions on certain city streets. These restrictions will be along the West End, downtown, and the Back Bay. These restrictions are set to begin after 12 a.m., Friday.

Celtics parade heat concerns

According to the latest forecast reports for Thursday night and Friday morning, citizens should anticipate a heat wave. If a heat wave takes place, temperatures in the city could go up in the 70s for eastern Massachusetts. The forecast also shows chances of rain showers and thunderstorms. As such, city officials have encouraged paradegoers to use sunscreen and stay hydrated. Much to the delight of paradegoers, the city will provide misting tents at City Hall Plaza and the Boston Common. Attendees can also avail themselves of cooling towels.
