Here is all you need to know about the Borrusia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic who recently lost the Bundesliga title, know his tactics, wife and religion
Iduna Park struggled to accept Borussia Dortmund losing again long after the game on Saturday was over. When Mainz 05 needed three points to win the Bundesliga for the first time since 2012, Dortmund did the unthinkable.
Bayern Munich beat Cologne 2-1 to win the title for a record-breaking 11th time after they were able to draw the game at 2-2.
Borussia Dortmund’s manager, Edin Terzic, stated that his team “feels empty” after their chances of winning the Bundesliga for the first time in more than ten years were dashed on the final day of the season when rival Bayern Munich won the title for an unprecedented eleventh straight year.
In his first full season in charge, Terzic had looked prepared to lead Dortmund to the title, but a draw at home against Mainz on the last day of the campaign allowed Bayern, who beat Cologne in overtime, to recapture the Meisterschale.
Tezic told ESPN in a post match interaction:
It’s difficult to find the right words.
We feel empty because we knew about the chance, you could feel the energy within the stadium and city. We all wanted it so hard. We were so close — just one goal was missing, it was one goal in the other stadium that was missing, we knew we were 90 minutes away from lifting the trophy.”

Dortmund was in sixth place and nine points behind Bayern when the league was paused in November for the 2022 World Cup. However, Bayern has since dealt with midseason turmoil and a manager change, with Thomas Tuchel taking over after Julian Nagelsmann left in March.
Bayern was being pursued by Terzic’s team, who eventually caught up to them in the campaign’s penultimate round.

A look at Edin Terzic’s career
Terzic worked as a scout and assistant coach at Borussia Dortmund’s development system from 2010 to 2013 under the direction of manager Jürgen Klopp. Additionally, Borussia Dortmund II’s temporary manager during the 2019–2020 Regionalliga West season was his brother Alen, who also works as a scout for the organisation.
At Beşiktaş from 2013 to 2015 and later at West Ham United from 2015 to 2017, Terzi worked as Slaven Bilic’s assistant coach. He started working with Bilic in 2012, before Croatia’s Euro 2012 group stage match against Republic of Ireland, by giving an analysis on the opposition.
Terzi’s analysis impressed Bilic, who offered him a job as his assistant coach at Lokomotiv Moscow, but the arrangement didn’t work out. After negotiating with Borussia Dortmund, Terzi accepted Bilic’s second invitation to join him at Beşiktaş. Terzi joined Bilic at West Ham United in 2015, but he departed the organisation in November 2017 after Bilic was fired.
Terzi has held a UEFA Pro Licence since 2018 after successfully completing an 18-month programme provided by The Football Association in England.
After Lucien Favre was appointed head coach in 2018, Terzi returned to Borussia Dortmund as an assistant coach for the first team. In the 2018–19 match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Terzi and teammate Manfred Stefes served as the team’s coaches when Favre was unable to do so due to illness.
Until the end of the 2020–21 season, Terzi will serve as temporary manager. Terzi won the 2020–2021 DFB–Pokal with Borussia Dortmund on May 13, 2021. Later, Borussia Mönchengladbach manager Marco Rose permanently took his post.
Terzi switched to a new post as technical manager for the 2021–2022 season rather than returning to his previous one as assistant manager. Terzi was appointed manager permanently and signed a deal that runs through 2025 after Borussia Dortmund and Rose mutually decided to part ways at the conclusion of the season.
Switching the focus onto Dortmund’s approach out of possession, the club with Edin Terzić seems to utilise a 4-5-1 & 4-1-4-1 mid-block structure most of the time, with compactness, minimising gaps between the lines, and waiting for any pressing triggers to move higher up the pitch.
