On October 13, 2022, at the age of 62, well-known fitness author and bodybuilder Doug Brignole passed away. Several outlets on social media shared the news.

Joe Wheatley, a promoter of bodybuilding, paid him tribute and wrote:

This one hurts really bad! May he rest in peace. Doug Brignole – 62 years old.

This unfortunate news comes at a time when the bodybuilder was getting ready and training to make a special appearance at the AAU Mr. Universe contest, which will take place in Las Vegas on October 22.

Benny Rollins, a friend of Brignole and a bodybuilder, also tweeted about the news. He tweeted,

Incredibly sad to report that my friend and mentor Doug Brignole passed away today. Doug taught me how to train PROPERLY, and I never would have developed anywhere near the physique I did if it wasn’t for him. His body was amazing, but his mind even more so. RIP buddy.

Who Is Doug Brignole?

Doug Brignole was a well-known American bodybuilder and fitness coach. He has been in the news because he died recently.

He was born in Pasadena, California, on December 15, 1959. At 14, he started lifting weights, and at 15, he joined Bill Pearl’s gym where he received instruction and guidance.

He was 62 years old when he died but his cause of death hasn’t been revealed as of yet. He was vaccinated against COVID19.

His Career

When Doug Brignole was barely 16 years old, he began competing in bodybuilding competitions. He won other championships over the following four decades, including 1982’s AAU Mr. Universe in the light heavyweight class and AAU Mr. America in the medium tall division.

He most recently won the AAU Mr. Universe in the open division in 2019 and the Muscle Beach International in 2014. Additionally, he conducted lectures in a number of US locations as well as Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Norway, and Japan.

Doug Brignole was also a well-known author and a public speaker. Along with contributing to various magazine pieces, he also co-wrote the academic sociology book “Million Dollar Muscle.”

Later on, after inspiring by many orthopedic doctors and Ph.D. instructors, he wrote the “The Physics of Resistance Exercise,” which went on to become one of his most well-known works.
