1. Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev did not have a very good season so far, as expected. But the German will be looking forward to getting his form back on home soil in between the home crowd and supporters that he lacked following controversial action. The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist was criticised so much for his unsportsmanlike conduct because of which he was suspended by ATP. The player in the home environment will be looking for some strength for action.
2. Nikoloz Basilashvili
The defending champion will be looking forward to defending his title being the current champion of the tournament. The 30-year-old tennis professional reached the final of the Qatar Open this year before losing to event champion Roberto Bautista Agut.
The experience on German clay will be helping the Georgian to study his opponents much easier.
3. Casper Ruud
Casper Ruud has already won a title at Argentina Open where he defeated Diego Schwartzman. The player had a great run on clay this season as he also reached the final of the Miami Open but lost to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. The Norwegian finalist reached that level outlasting players like Alexander Zverev and Cameron Norrie. He also was the quarterfinalist at Barcelona Open but was defeated by the finalist of the tournament Pablo Carreno Busta.
His experience on clay this season amd good advancements, one of the reasons he is expected to continue his form in Germany too.
4. Reilly Opelka
An early exit at Melbourne, Australia, Reilly Opelka reached the semi-finals of the Sydney International losing to former World No. 1 Andy Murray.
The American has won two titles so far, at Delray Beach Open defeating Cameron Norrie and ATP Houston overcoming John Isner. Opelka also came past Nick Kyrgios in the semifinals while the Australian was at his best form, to win the title in Houston.
5. Miomir Kecmanovic
The Serbia professional has reached the last eight of the four recent tournaments in a row, he participated in. Miomir Kecmanovic had a tough battle recently against World No. 1 Novak Djokovic at Serbia Open. He was also defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, against the Spaniard who is in a very good and strong form. At Indian Wells Masters, he got outlasted by the tournament champion Taylor Fritz in quarters, at Chile Open by Alejandro Tabilo and at Rio Open by Francisco Cerundolo.
