What Exactly Happened in Bleach TYBW Part 1
Part 1 of Bleach: The Young and the Restless introduced the Quincy army led by Yhwach, the patriarch of the Quincy people. Uryu Ishida, who shares a family tree with the Quincys, also appears to have joined their ranks. This has been further hinted by promotional materials for the upcoming second season, which feature audio of an argument between Ishida and the show’s protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki.
While fighting Yhwach, Ichigo’s original Zanpakuto also broke, but he was able to construct two new ones. This was possible only after he discovered his Quincy heritage through his mother, Masaki Kurosaki. Zangetsu, the form his first Zanpakuto took, turned out to be a vision of a young Yhwach.

We still don’t know who Ichigo’s friends allied with in Hueco Mundo, and we have no idea what became of Byakuya and Rukia Kuchiki. Fans are anticipating an early appearance from these two Soul Reapers in the upcoming second half of the series, as well as an early opportunity for Ichigo to put his two new Zanpakuto to the test.
