Amidst the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup, a post by Indian journalist Arfa Khanum Sherwani garnered significant attention. In her post, she criticized the behavior of the crowds at the tournament. This post sparked a heated debate, with BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia facing trolling after he confronted former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria regarding his comments on Khanum’s post.
The discussion began when Arfa, on Sunday, expressed her feelings of being embarrassed and ashamed as an Indian. Arfa conveyed her dismay by stating that the regrettable conduct of many cricket fans during World Cup matches makes her feel embarrassed and disheartened as an Indian. Simultaneously, Danish Kaneria responded to Arfa’s post by suggesting that she should visit Pakistan.
In response to Danish Kaneria’s comments regarding Sherwani, Gaurav Bhatia, the National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, expressed his opinion on X, advising Kaneria to address his own country’s issues before commenting on others. Kaneria, in response to the BJP leader, suggested that the decision of who should be removed from the arena should be left to the people.

The Indian reporter responded to Kaneria’s comments, accusing him of inciting online harassment against her. She expressed her disappointment in witnessing a cricketer injecting communal interpretations into everything. Kaneria countered the journalist from Bulandshahar, stating that he had not introduced any communal aspects in his statements and urged her to avoid using divisive terms. In the meantime, several users who supported Arfa’s post expressed their disapproval of Kaneria’s remarks.
