All Elite Wrestling had officially announced the signing of Big Show as Paul Wight on 24th February, 2021 after almost 22 years of him wrestling for its rival promotion WWE. The promotion put out a press release to share the news which said that Wight will not only wrestle, but also contribute as a commentator to AEW: Dark Elevation. Big Show spent his first four years of pro-wrestling as The Giant in WCW, starting 1995. He became a two-time WCW World Heavyweight Championship twice and three-time WCW World Tag Team Championships there. His WWE debut came as a surprise at St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 1999, when he attacked Steve Austin on behalf of Vince McMahon. Show would then go on to become the twelfth Grand Slam Champion.
Before signing up with AEW, he had been continuing his stint in WWE as a part-time performer and he last fought in the squared circle against Randy Orton in an unsanctioned bout on the June 20, 2020 edition of Raw.
Why Did Big Show Leave WWE?
In March 2021, Big Show revealed his final straw with WWE on the Talk Is Jericho podcast. According to him, it was 5 years ago when someone from the top floor office told him that he would never main event Wrestlemania, or for that matter, any pay-per-view, ever again. He was told on the face that he would only be used to get over NXT talent because that was ‘best for business.’
Anyhow, Show still stayed loyal to the company and even got 6-pack abs to fit in but to no avail. He explained on the podcast to a stunned Chris Jericho how in WWE “you’re a number, you’re an algorithm. And they are going to see what makes everything else make the most money possible.” Both men wrestle for AEW now.

As of 2021, Big Show’s net worth stands at $16 Million. As for his salary, he started with $1.5 million in 2015 and dropped to $1.2 million in 2017 as a part-timer. In 2018, the figure became $850,000 a year as per his contract.
