The WrestleMania match between Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks won the ESPY award as the winners for the best WWE moment this Saturday
ESPN’s annual celebration of all things sports returned this week on Saturday, 10th July with the ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Awards. Smackdown’s Women Champion Bianca Belair and The Boss Sasha Banks made history for the Women’s Division once again as their WrestleMania match won the Best WWE Moment Award.

As Bianca Belair defeated Sasha Banks to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship at this year’s WrestleMania, both of them became the first women of color to headline The Grandest Stage of Them All. The category also featured Belair and Edge’s Royal Rumble Match victories, and Bad Bunny’s incredible in-ring debut. But it was the Smackdown Women’s title match which took the award, as voted by fans on ESPN’s website.

“I Don’t Wanna Do A Hair vs. Hair Match.” – Bianca Belair
While Banks has not been in action ever since her WrestleMania loss, Belair has gone on to showcase some incredible matches, especially with Bayley. The EST of WWE was supposed to go up against Bayley this Sunday at Money in the Bank. But, the latter sustained an injury while training and the match had to be taken down.
A few months ago, reports had indicated that the two women would end their feud in a ‘Hair vs. Hair match,’ a possible gimmick owing to the fact that Belair often uses her hair as a weapon. However, Bianca had expressed her disapproval for the idea during a virtual meet-and-greet with pro-wrestling fan Mayur Dhwaj Singh. “Everybody was talking about that for a while and I’m like, ‘I don’t wanna do a hair vs. hair match,” she stated.
Although her MITB title match has been taken down, she will defend the Smackdown Women’s Championship against Carmella this week on Friday.
