Ahead of the start of the competition, the organizers hosted a grand auction where Indian Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is the president of BVIC, spoke.
Gadkari expressed his delight during the occasion and stated:
BVPL is more than just a cricket league; it’s a celebration of the enduring love for cricket and the skill of our veteran players. I’m thrilled to see the enthusiasm and talent this league brings forth. We’re proud to support this initiative and look forward to an extraordinary season ahead.”
Bharat Veteran Premier League 2023 auction
The grand auction of the upcoming competition took place at The Lalit Hotel in Mumbai on Sunday, October 1, 2023. The Board for Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI) sponsored the bidding ceremony while the IPCA (Indian Power Cricket Academy) organised the whole event. Notably, Telangana Tigers managed to sign former West Indies player Chris Gayle as their international icon. Meanwhile, Mumbai Champions secured Chris Morris as their international icon.

The Bharat Veteran Premier League is all set to host veteran cricket players from across different countries in Dehradun, in December later this year.

The upcoming competition will feature the following six teams in a T20I format:
- VVIP Uttar Pradesh
- Rajasthan Legends
- Red Carpet Delhi
- Chhattisgarh Warriors
- Telangana Tigers
- Mumbai Champions

As mentioned earlier, each of the six teams will feature a roster of 16 players. 10 of the players will be popular veteran international cricketers including:

- Michael Clarke
- Christopher Mpofu
- Thisara Perera
- Phil Mustard
- Owais Shah
- Dilshan Munaweera
- Shahriar Nafees
- Robert Frylinck
Out of the 16 players in a team, 12 players will be regional players, two would be international superstars, while the other two will be Indian icons.
