This is the second time the company has talked about their plans to re-release BGMI. On July 28, 2022, the Indian government removed BGMI from the Google Play and Apple stores because of a security and privacy breach. Unfortunately, the sudden removal of the popular battle royale game by Krafton has hurt the gaming scene in the country. In February of this year, the government also banned the popular mobile game Free Fire.
Almost a year after PUBG Mobile was banned in India in September 2020, Krafton released Battle grounds Mobile India on July 2, 2021. They also put on a number of events to help grow the game’s competitive scene.
The Launch Party Event OF BGMI
Their first event, called “The Launch Party,” was a huge success. More than 540,000 people watched it at the same time. Later, they held the first “open to all” BGMI esports competition, the BGIS, with a total prize pool of 1 crore INR.
In July 2022, the first BGMI LAN event was held at the publisher’s office. In February of this year, the company also released the BGMI Esports Roadmap for 2022. It has four major events with a huge prize pool of 6 crore INR. Sadly, only two of these events could be held before the game was banned everywhere in the country.
A few weeks ago, the owner of Orangutan Gaming, Yash Bhanushali, tweeted that Free Fire and BGMI would be coming back soon for Indian fans. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the return of both of these games to the market. Which will likely rebuild the mobile gaming scene in the country. Since Free Fire was taken off the market, the game’s publisher, Garena, has not said anything about a possible re-release.
