The Grind is an exhibition match before the Battlegrounds India Series that offers a prize fund for invited teams, and is legally sanctioned. Each group of invited teams will compete for cash prizes after being separated into smaller groups.

The event boasts a gigantic prize pool of ₹2,00,00,000, double that of the inaugural editio and the crown champion of the grand event will be awarded a cash prize of ₹75,00,000, which is 37.5% of the total prize money.

Underdog teams that fared well in the BGIS 2021 and advanced to rounds 2, 3, and 4 were also invited to The Grind this season in addition to BGMI Tier 1 teams. Overall, 256 teams have accepted invitations to the Grind competition. A select group of Tier 1 teams, including Team Soul, Godlike, OR Esports, and others, received invitations to BGIS 2023 The Grind.

Format for The Grind is as follows:

The 64 competing teams are divided into eight groups, each with eight teams. Each team will play a minimum of one game and a maximum of three games each day during The Grind Finals.

The top 32 teams from The Grind Finals will move on to Round 3 while the remaining 32 teams will participate in Round 2 of BGIS 2023. The Grind Finals will take place from August 17 until August 20, 2023. The 64 teams from eight Groups will play seven round-robin matches on Sunday.
