As per the Urban Dictionary, the meaning behind the acronym is “Be F*****g For Real.” The term is used to persuade one to “think straight and to make it make sense.”
The phrase is appropriate when someone is being ‘stupid,’ or in denial of a fact. It has made huge waves on the video-sharing platform. The term came into the lime-light after a user who goes by the name @liyahhh used it back on June 29, 2022.
In his video user can be heard saying, “BFFR, what does that spell? Be f*****g for real,” to a video captioned “when that one girl think I want her ugly a**.”
The original clip has so far received 2.7 million views and over 166K videos have been published using the sound.
Let us remind you, social media users aren’t the only ones who are going gaga over the term as a female rapper, Latto, who’s known for her super hit single, Big Energy.
The musician used the phrase back in October 2022 in a tweet. At the time, she penned, “I’ll die on this hill by myself! Everybody ain’t lying on you! We see the pattern! BFFR!”
