It was the Welsh Open’s 12th ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season, and the 31st since 1992.
Jordan Brown was the defending champion, having defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan 9–8 in the 2021 Welsh Open Snooker final. However, he suffered an early loss at the qualifiers against Mitchell Mann. Brown lost the match 3-4 against Mann.

The event took place at Celtic Manor Resort in Newport with the final slated for Sunday, March 6th. The tournament qualifying rounds continued from 15th February to 20th February. The matches were held during afternoon session and evening session with short break between them
Welsh Open Snooker 2022 6th March Final Judd Trump vs Joe Perry Results And Score
Joe Perry won his first Welsh Open Snooker championship and second ranking title after defeating Judd Trump 9–5 in the final, a victory he described as “the absolute highlight of my career.” Perry, at the age of 47, became the second-oldest player in professional snooker history, behind Ray Reardon, to win a ranking title.
In their previous 12 meetings, Trump had defeated Perry 9 times, but Perry overcame all odds with his amazing form.
In the final, scores were tied 4-4 after the end of afternoon session but Perry completely dominated the evening session and won 5 frames compared to one of Trump. With his win, Perry climbed from 42nd to 23rd in the world rankings.

Tournament Format And Rules
Up until the quarter-final stage, all games were best of seven frames. The quarterfinals featured a best of nine frames.
The semi-finals were best of eleven frames, and the final featured best of seventeen frames. Tatiana Woollaston was the appointed referee of the final match.
Welsh Open 2022 Snooker Prize Money Pool Distribution
The tournament champion Joe Perry received £70,000 as prize money, while the runner-up got 30,000 Pounds. The net prize pool of the tournament was 405,000 Pounds. Amateur player Michael White won the Highest Break prize with a 142 break in the tournament.
