On Monday, July 25, the second group stage of Snooker Championship League will begin, and Ricky Walden will join the other 31 group winners after he topped his group and qualified for stage two.

There will be 128 competitors in all. The first round of the competition consists of 32 group matches with four participants each. Every day for four blocks from June 28 to July 1, July 4 to July 7, July 11 to July 14, and starting on July 18, two groups compete in the arena until one group prevails.
Each group plays six matches in the round robin games. All games during group play are played in the best-of-four-frame format, with the winner receiving three points and the loser receiving one. The group winners stage, which consists of eight groups of four competitors, is where the top 32 contestants advance. Later that day, the eight champions from the group winners’ stage move on to the final two groups. The champion receives a seat in the 2022 Champion of Champions as well as the Championship League trophy.

On 5th July, Ricky Walden emerged as the winner of Group 15 at Snooker Championship League after winning two of his games and drawing the other game. With this, Walden has advanced to the winners’ week where he will be joined by other 31 group winners. Similarly, Chinese player Xiao Gundong emerged as the winner of group 32 after managing to win all three of his games comfortably.
Mark Selby, a four-time world champion, has been placed in Group 3 with Ben Woollaston, Zhang Jiankang, and James Cahill. His season is set to start on Thursday, July 7. On Tuesday, July 19, Group 2 opponents for Crucible finalist Trump were Jamie Clarke, Sean O’Sullivan, and Yisong Peng. Alongside Joe O’Connor and Zak Surety, David Gilbert will begin the title defence in Group 16 on Wednesday, July 20.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
The winner of the Snooker Championship League in 2022 will get a cash reward of £20,000. The contest’s second-place finisher will also receive $10,000 in the interim. However, a separate monetary prize will be provided for each round of the competition.
