Best WWE Wrestlemania And Royal Rumble Matches Of All Time Ranked

Tons of WWE Matches happen every year but only some remain in our memory forever. The Sports Grail presents to you the best WWE matches of all time.

The year 2001 saw hotshots like The Rock, Kurt Angle, Steve Austin and Chris Jericho deliver some of their greatest matches ever. The matches were star-studded and action-packed to the core.

Following Are The Best WWE Matches Of All Time From 2001

1. Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon (King of the Ring)

This match was a literal Street Fight, what with Shane McMahon’s ability to take whatever Kurt threw at him. For example, taking three German suplexes into a glass entrance door. One of them obviously sent him flying through the pane. This brutal match was one of Shane and Kurt’s best performances. It ended with Kurt hitting an Angle Slam from the top-rope.

2. The Rock vs. Steve Austin (Wrestlemania X-Seven)

Even an average WWE fan will acknowledge the power theses three names – The Rock, Steve Austin and Wrestlemania – hold. It was a No Disqualification match for the WWF Championship. The Brahma Bull and Stone Cold were at the peak of their careers and it just couldn’t get any better. The match ended with a shocking conclusion as Austin turned heel and allied with Vince McMahon.

3. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit (Royal Rumble)

During this match, Jim Ross commentated that Benoit and Jericho were taking ladder matches to another level. Well, where was the lie? One of its memorable spots was when Benoit went for a suicide dive but Jericho caught him with a chair shot to the head as he flew between the ropes. Y2J would eventually win after shoving over a ladder Benoit was on, reaching for the Intercontinental Championship belt.

4. Triple H vs. Steve Austin (No Way Out)

This Three Stages of Hell match was the final match in the historic HHH vs. Stone Cold two-year on again/off again feud. It had an excellent build up, including both Stone Cold stunning the Game’s wife Stephanie and HHH hitting a pedigree on JR in retribution in the week leading into the match.

The first fall was a standard match, while the other two were a Street Fight and a Steel Cage match. Triple H leveled Austin with a sledgehammer, dropping on top of him to score the last pin fall.

5. 30-Man Royal Rumble Match (Royal Rumble)

This was the famous Royal Rumble which saw Kane eliminate 11 superstars, all by himself. It was a record which remained unbeaten for thirteen years. If you ever feel like catching some vintage Rumble action, this star-studded match should definitely be one of your picks. Rikishi, The Rock, Kane and Steve Austin were the last men standing. It ended up as Austin’s third Royal Rumble victory.
