Benjamin Mendy Latest News: Rape Accused Shifted To Strangeways Prison From HMP Altcourse
Things have turned so abysmal for the footballer that he was transferred from Liverpool’s category B-HMP Altcourse where he’s been housed since being arrested in 2021 and taken to the high security Strangeways prison in Manchester. The facility is one of the most heavily secured jails in Britain with it notable for being one of the grimmest places to house offenders.
Co-defendant in the case, 40 year old Louis Saha Matturie has been moved there at the same time with the switch being opted for after a seventh rape charge was brought against Mendy which sparked concerns over his safety. Mendy is said to face a difficult time at Strangeways with the inmates over there said to have committed some of the most atrocious crimes.
One source in the knowhow of things said, “Both Mendy and Matturie have been moved because their case is so high profile. That can lead to safety and prisoner management issues and it was felt Category A conditions might be better equipped to deal with any potential issues.
“The Prison Service has a responsibility to manage prisoners in the safest way possible.”
Mendy has meanwhile had his sex tape and nude images leaked with his bail being denied on a string of occasions owing to the seventy of the misdemeanors.
